Pedestrian killed, drug suspect arrested, murder suspect charged

We have today the name of the man killed in a weekend vehicle vs pedestrian accident on Athens’ east side: Willie Sims was 52 years old, from Athens. The wreck happened on Lexington Road near Winterville Road. Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating.

Ten pounds of methamphetamine: also cocaine, heroin, and marijuana—all were found after a traffic stop on I-85 in Franklin County. Suspect Hollie Evans is from Knoxville Tennessee. She was booked into the Franklin County jail.

A Habersham County man is charged in a deadly stabbing in Forsyth County. 40 year-old Jesus Gonzalez faces a murder charge in the death of a man killed in northeast Forsyth County. 

A pastor's wife in Gwinnett County gets five years in prison, her punishment for taking a Taser from a police officer and pointing it at him: Cristina Cruz was sentenced for an altercation that happened in Lilburn in March of last year.

Police in DeKalb County are investigating a weekend shooting: a 28 year-old man was killed. DeKalb County Police say there is, so far, no word on suspects or motive. 

Atlanta Police have identified the teenage victim who was hit and killed by a car. Jermaine Wallace Junior was 14 years old. He died after being taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. There is no word on whether the driver of the car that hit him will face charges.

A man suspect in a box cutter assault has been arrested. Police say Marcus Parks Jr. was stopped by a Lake City police officer when he drove past the officer and a tag reader caught him driving with no insurance. Parks was wanted for an aggravated assault in Clayton County.
