Police arrest counterfeiting, home invasion suspects

Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrests of three people accused of trafficking in counterfeit cash. Jennifer Pittman is 44 years old, from Athens. She and two men from Athens—39 year-old Matthew Smith and 47 year-old Joseph Sanders—are accused of using bogus $20 bills at a food truck on King Avenue. Police say all three are facing forgery and counterfeiting charges. They were booked into the Clarke County jail. 

Athens-Clarke County Police say they have now arrested and charged a half-dozen suspects in a June 26 home invasion on Macon Highway: three more were arrested this week. Police say the suspects—five men and one woman—used a knife in the robberies of four people in the apartment on Athens' south side. There were no serious injuries.

Police in Elberton arrest a teenager on a stolen weapons charge: 18 year-old Deandre Wilson was booked into the Elbert County jail.

A Hall County man is facing aggravated assault charges in Elbert County: Zachary Smith is 42 years old, from Gainesville. He was arrested after a reported domestic disturbance.
