Police blotter: Athens hit-and-run driver surrenders, Gainesville man sentenced in assault

Donterris Gresham surrenders: Athens-Clarke County Police say he turned himself into deputies at the jail on Lexington Road last evening. The 29 year-old Gresham was allegedly behind the wheel of the car that struck and killed 20 year-old University of Georgia student Ariana Zarse. Zarse was hit while walking across East Broad Street near Foundry in downtown Athens. Gresham is accused of leaving the scene of the accident. Police say he will face charges that include vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.

A 34 year-old Elbert County man is booked into the Elbert County Detention Center on felony drug and weapons charges: Kevin Edwards was arrested by police in Elberton, taken to jail after a traffic stop.

A Gainesville man is booked into the Hall County jail on drug and weapons charges: Gainesville Police say Daquan Henderson was caught with thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs that included cocaine and marijuana; they confiscated cash and a handgun.

There is a guilty plea from 44 year-old Thomas Robinson: the Hall County man gets life in prison for his violent assault on a woman 38 year-old pregnant woman described by the DA in Gainesville as one of the worst cases of domestic violence he’s ever seen. It happened in 2019.

A Hall County man is arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a girl he met on-line: 20 year-old Marco Loza faces counts that include sexual battery and child molestation. The girl he met on social media is under the age of 16. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville: Loza was booked into the Hall County jail.
