Police blotter: man arrested in Elbert Co shooting, motorcycle rider killed in Hall Co

There is an arrest in a shooting that happened earlier this week in Elberton: a woman, shot in the face, allegedly by 22 year-old Quadrius Rucker, was hospitalized in stable condition in Athens. Rucker was booked into the Elbert County jail on charges that include aggravated assault and child cruelty.

Jury selection is set to start Monday in the trials of four defendants accused in the murder of Hall County Sheriff’s Deputy Blaine Dixon. Dixon was shot and killed in July of 2019, gunned down while chasing car theft suspects in Gainesville.

There are charges for a Hall County jail inmate, accused of stabbing another inmate at the lock-up in Gainesville: Jody Summers is from Ellijay. He’s facing charges that include aggravated assault and battery. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says the inmate who was stabbed suffered non life-threatening injuries.

A man from Hall County is killed in a motorcycle crash: James Chatham was 31 years old, from Flowery Branch. The wreck happened near Chestnut Mountain.
