Police blotter: robbery and shooting suspects arrested, murder suspect preps for trial

There are now armed robbery charges for a man arrested in Madison County: 34 year-old Nicholas Kohel is accused of holding up a grocery store in Ila. He’s also facing charges that include possession and distribution of marijuana.

There were no injuries reported in the Sunday night derailment of a freight train in Hall County. The Norfolk Southern train jumped the tracks in East Hall. 

A Gwinnett County woman says she will represent herself after being charged with starving her stepdaughter. It's a death penalty trial for Tiffany Moss. The trial which had been scheduled for this past July was postponed when a Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge allowed two lawyers from the state's public defender system to appeal his decision allowing Moss to represent herself. The judge will now have to reset her trial date.

There was a weekend funeral for a pregnant teenager who was hit by a stray bullet while sitting in a family member’s home in Atlanta: the 20 year-old shooting suspect had a first court appearance late week in Atlanta.

With the help of CNN security a gunman has been apprehended, a man police say shot two men on the 28th floor of the Omni Hotel in Atlanta. The suspect has been identified as Sedarius Dennis, 31 years old. Atlanta Police say Dennis is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
