Police hold Active Shooter Response training session

The latest in a series of Citizens' Response to Active Shooter training sessions is set for 6:30 tonight at the Tuckston United Methodist Church on Lexington Road. The training sessions are organized and conducted by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. 

A 29 year-old Athens man is now facing charges stemming from this week's shooting on College Avenue: Athens-Clarke County Police say it was a road rage shooting. They say Oscar Zarco opened fire after an altercation with another driver near Bethel Midtown. There were no injuries. Charges for Zarco include battery and aggressive driving. 

Athens-Clarke County Police make an arrest in a shooting that happened on September 5: Adam Conerly is 31 years old, from Winterville. Police say he fired shots into a mobile home on Spring Valley Road. One person inside the house trailer was struck in the arm and treated in an Athens hospital for non life-threatening injuries. Conerly was booked into the Clarke County jail on charges that include aggravated assault.
