Police probe shooting

Athens-Clarke County Police investigate a shooting at the Spring Valley mobile home park: a police report says the victim, a 55 year-old man, was grazed by a bullet that struck his arm. There was no immediate word on who shot him or why.

From the ACCPD…

On October 5, 2018 around 8:11 pm, an ACCPD officer assisting another officer on a traffic stop heard gun shots inside the Spring Valley Mobile Home Park. The officer left the traffic stop to determine the source of the gunshots. As the officer arrived at a nearby trailer, a black male, 55 years of age, yelled that he had been shot. The officer approached the victim to determine the extent of his wounds and saw a small laceration on his arm. The victim indicated to our officer that he was standing on his porch, heard gunshots, felt something burning on his arm, and realized he had been shot. Our officer offered to call EMS to treat the laceration, but the victim declined. The case has been assigned to Det. K. Johnson and is under active investigation. ACCPD asks that anyone with information about the shooting to contact: 706-613-3330, ext. 331, Kim.Johnson@accgov.com .
