Police roundup includes super speeder arrest and deadly boat, automobile accidents

Police in Morgan County arrest a speeder who was allegedly doing close to 100 miles per hour when he was pulled over on I-20 near Madison. The arrest came after he fled the scene of a traffic stop and hit several other vehicles on the interstate. 

A man is dead after a boating accident on Lake Hartwell: Brandon Wilson was 39 years old, from Grayson. The state Department of Natural Resources is investigating. 

The Georgia State Patrol and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a car that wrecked near Clarkesville. The man’s name has not yet been released.

Two Atlanta police officers are assaulted while responding to a car wreck. The Atlanta Police Department says that when officers arrived on the scene, they found a man involved in the crash with blood coming from his head. The crash victim allegedly ran toward the officers and began to physically assault them. One APD officer used a stun gun on the man, and he was taken into custody. One officer’s face was scratched in the struggle, and the other was burned by a car tail pipe during the incident. Both were treated at the scene.

A Cobb County teenager is indicted after he allegedly molested a 14 year-old girl at South Cobb High School in Austell. Prosecutors in Cobb County say the charges against Curtis Bell include aggravated sexual battery and child molestation. He was 17 years old at the time.

Police search for the person responsible for the shooting death of man in Columbus. Deputy Corner Elizabeth Allison confirms 28 year-old Edgar Lee Harris was shot and pronounced dead early Sunday morning. The Columbus Police Department says they are treating this as a homicide investigation.

Authorities in Appling County are investigating after a body is found. The Toombs County 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a fisherman in Appling County after he discovered a body in the river that was later identified as that of Eric Harvey. He was 27 years old, from Baxley.
