Raffensperger beats Barrow, House race too close to call

Athens Democrat John Barrow comes up short in his bid to be Secretary of State, losing a runoff to Johns Creek Republican Brad Raffensperger in the race to replace Brian Kemp, the Athens Republican who became last month Georgia’s Governor-elect. The other Republican on Tuesday’s runoff ballot was also a winner: Public Service Commissioner Chuck Eaton won reelection, beating Democrat Lindy Miller.

Tuesday’s election in Georgia House District 28 remains far too close to call, with former Banks County School Superintendent Chris Erwin leading incumbent Republican Dan Gasaway by just three votes in a special election that was ordered by a judge after ballots were mishandled in the May 22 GOP primary. The 28th House District includes parts of Banks, Habersham, and Stephens counties.
