Robbery suspects sought in Athens, theft suspects caught in Gainesville

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating another armed robbery report: police say two men—one with a gun—held up a convenience store on Lexington Road. Cash was stolen; no injuries were reported.

On January 3, 2019 at approximately 4:53 am, ACCPD responded to an Armed Robbery call at 4400 Lexington Rd, (Murphy Express.) ACCPD spoke with witnesses who stated that two black male suspects, one armed with a gun, entered the store and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspects an undetermined amount of cash. The suspects fled on foot towards Firewood Street, off Whit Davis Road. The suspects were wearing red and black hooded jackets, pulled over their head, and were concealing their faces. One suspect had a Baltimore Orioles baseball jersey with the number “8” and “Ripken” on the back. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Det. The Hall County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of a theft suspect, a woman accused of stealing almost $7,000 worth of equipment from a landscaping company: Chassity Thomas is 23 years old, from Douglasville. She was booked into the Hall County jail. Investigators were, at last report, still searching for her alleged accomplice, 25 year-old Jacob Underwood of Mableton. 

A Flowery Branch man is in the Hall County jail, arrested and charged in at least two burglaries and home break-ins, one at a business, the other at a storage unit: 44 year-old Carl Padgett is also facing methamphetamine possession charges.
