Sec of State to probe NE Ga House elections

His office says Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (pictured) will have investigators look for evidence of fraud in last year’s elections in House District 28: Athens Judge David Sweeat has twice tossed out the results of elections that saw former Banks County School Superintendent Chris Erwin defeat Republican representative Dan Gasaway. The second of those elections—a special election in December—was decided by just two votes out of more than 7,000 that were cast. The first election was last May’s GOP primary, which Erwin won by a 67-vote margin.

Gasaway says some ballots were cast by voters who live outside the district that includes parts of Banks, Stephens, and Habersham counties.
The date for what would be the third election in House District 28 has not yet been announced.
