Some schools still without power, still closed after tropical storm

A handful of northeast Georgia schools are closed again today: some of the schools that closed Thursday because of Tropical Storm Zeta are still without electricity today. Schools in Banks, Hall, White, Lumpkin, and Habersham counties are on the closure list.

From WSB TV…

Several school districts have closed again on Friday because of power outages caused by Tropical Storm Zeta.

The storm moved through early Thursday, leaving trees and powerlines down across the area.

At one point, more than a million people were without power across the state.

Many school districts were closed Thursday because of the storms. Some have announced they are now closing again today.

Fulton, Cobb, Dawson, Habersham and Lumpkin counties will all remain closed on Friday.

“We are grateful to local crews clearing roads and restoring power, but the storm impact on our schools remains significant. Currently over 40 campuses are without power and internet; and uncertainty remains when utilities will be restored. Friday will also provide time for our staff to address other issues related to storm recovery,” Fulton County schools said in a statement.
