Athens-Clarke County Commissioners take up the question of Sunday alcohol sales in tonight’s meeting at City Hall: The Commissioners are expected to sign off the measure that will allow Athens restaurants to serve alcoholic beverages beginning at 11 o’clock Sunday mornings, a change from the current 12:30pm that had been required by state law. Commissioners meet at 6 o’clock this evening.

Tonight’s Oconee County Commission meeting is set for 6 o’clock at the Oconee County courthouse in Watkinsville.

Today is election day in Comer: Laura Minish and Tommy Appling will face the voters again in a runoff election to fill the District 3 seat on the Comer City Council. Minish and Appling were the top two vote-getters in last month’s general election. There is also a runoff in Braselton, where Becky Richardson and Richard Mayberry are competing for a City Council seat.
