Teens arrested: might be linked to auto break-ins

Athens-Clarke County Police say they have arrested three teenagers on burglary charges: Derrion Watson (believed to be pictured above) is 17 years old; Derrick Watson is 18. The name of a 14 year-old suspect has not been released. They are accused of trying to break into a home on Towne Square Drive in Athens. Police are investigating to determine whether the trio is responsible for a recent rash of automobile break-ins in Athens. 

From the Athens-Clarke County Police Department…

On November 27, 2018 at 1:15 pm, a homeowner on Towne Square Dr. contacted the ACCPD to report three black males walking behind a neighbor’s home. The males attempted to enter this home but fled when the resident saw them near a window. ACCPD officers responded to the area, located, and then detained three suspects- two adults and one juvenile. Detectives investigated the case and sufficient evidence was obtained to make the following charges:

  • Derrick Watson, 18 years of age: Attempted Burglary, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime. • Derrion Watson, 17 years of age: Attempted Burglary, Wearing a Mask to Conceal Identity, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Related Objects. • Unnamed Juvenile, 14 years of age: Attempted Burglary, Loitering and Prowling, and a Daytime Curfew Violation.

The two adults were transported to the Clarke County Jail and the juvenile was detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Additionally, Entering Auto warrants will be sought against Derrion Watson (11-25-18 incident) and Derrick Watson (11-12-18 incident.)
