Series History With Florida A&M

Georgia has won all four of the Bulldogs’ previous meetings with Florida A&M, with all of those contests being held in Athens.

Most recently, a trio of Bulldogs had standout showings in an 85-75 victory over the Rattlers in the season opener of the 2020-21 campaign.

Georgia was led by graduate transfer Andrew Garcia with 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor. The Bulldogs also received double-double outings from Tye Fagan (21 points, 10 boards) and Sahvir Wheeler (12 points, 12 assists). Fagan’s performance earned him SEC Player of the Week recognition.

The game was played on Nov. 29 but was only scheduled five days prior to being contested in the crazy days of Covid-altered scheduling. Georgia was originally slated to meet Columbus State on Nov. 25 and host Gardner Webb on Nov. 29. Both dates were canceled – Gardner Webb on Nov. 23 and Columbus State just hours before the game – due to Covid.

Scouting The Rattlers

Florida A&M arrives in Athens with a 1-5 record on the season after playing a Power 5-heavy schedule to date. The Rattlers’ setbacks include losses to Oregon, Oregon State, Miami (Fla.) and Florida.

Byron Smith is leading Florida A&M offensively by scoring 12.3 points per game. A trio of Rattlers are chipping in between 8.3-8.8 ppg. Atlanta native Jaylen Bates is FAMU’s second-leading scorer 8.8 ppg while grabbing a team-high 6.8 rpg. Jordan Tillmon and Jordan Chatman are adding 8.5 and 8.3 ppg, respectively.
