Traffic advisories for East Campus, West Lake Drive

The University of Georgia says East Campus Road between Cedar Street and East Green Street will be closed to cars and pedestrians later today: rock blasting as part of a building construction project is scheduled for around 5:30 this afternoon.

East Campus Road between Cedar Street and E. Green Street will be temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for several minutes due to a scheduled rock blasting activity at 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic control flaggers will direct traffic. The road will reopen immediately after the blast.

The row of parking adjacent to the construction fence at Lot S07 will also be closed for the day. Following this blast, it is anticipated that the blasting activities will continue at 5:30 p.m. for several weeks and the dates/times will be updated as the blasting schedule is confirmed. Expect minor delays at and around 5:30 p.m.

The work continues—as do the traffic delays—on West Lake Drive in Athens. Crews are working on sewer and gas lines in a project that is scheduled to wrap up later this month.
