UGA student killed in crash

A University of Georgia student from Stewart County has been identified as the victim of a two-vehicle crash at the Highway 10 Loop and Timothy Road: Drury Anderson Shierling was 21 years old, from Lumpkin. A passenger in Shierling’s car was injured in the wreck that happened Wednesday morning. Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says a 28 year-old Gainesville man is now charged in a shooting that happened earlier this week: Martin Salcido is charged with shooting and wounding a 33 year-old man who was hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A Florida man has waived extradition and is now in the Hall County jail: there are child molestation charges for 31 year-old Jonathan Wallace.

A half-dozen students suffered what were described as minor injuries in a school bus vs dump truck accident in Dawson County: it happened on Highway 53 near Dawsonville. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
