Wilkes reelected in Oconee Co

Oconee County Commissioner Bubber Wilkes (pictured) won Tuesday’s Republican primary,  defeating challenger John Laster.  School Board member Amy Parrish was also a GOP primary winner, beating Adam Spence and advancing to face Anderea Wellitz in November.

Voters in Madison County sent two County Commission incumbents packing: John Pethel was beaten by Brian Kirk, while Derek Doster defeated Joe Escoe.

Oglethorpe County voters ousted incumbent George Gabriel, awarding the District 5 County Commission seat to Tracy Norman. Norman won a three-man contest that also included Randy Gordon.

Ralph Richardson beats Michelle Forthofer for a seat on the Jackson County Commission. Also in Jackson County: state Rep Tommy Benton defeated challenger Sam Thomas.

Bo Warren won the District 1 seat on the Walton County Commission.

Three Barrow County Commissioners won reelection. Isaiah Berry beat Derek Cox, Billy Parks won against Debbie Reid, and Ben Hendrix defeated Deborah Lynn.

Democrat Josh McCall won a congressional primary, beating David Cooper to advance to the November general election, where he’ll face incumbent Doug Collins, Republican from Gainesville.
