Police blotter: shots fired into homes in Athens, Gainesville

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the latest shooting in Stonehenge, where shots were fired into a home on Marlborough Downs Road. There were no injuries reported.

Two teenagers from Hartwell are arrested and accused of throwing the rocks that damaged eleven cars and left one person injured. The Hart County Sheriff’s Office says the 17 year-olds were targeting cars on Highway 77 and throwing the rocks from the back of a pick-up truck.

A 41 year-old Toccoa man is arrested after allegedly stealing catalytic converters from cars: Talibdin Suluki was booked into and has bonded out of the Stephens County jail. He was arrested when he was spotted trying to steal parts from a church van in Stephens County.

There are child molestation charges for a Gillsville man: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says allegations against 41 year-old Jose Benitez date back to late 2019.

A 50 year-old Gainesville woman is arrested after allegedly threatening two other women with a machete: Ramona Bryant was booked into the Hall County jail on charges that include aggravated assault. No injuries were reported.

There are aggravated assault charges for a Gainesville man accused of firing a rifle shot into a home: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says Raul Rios also pointed his gun at a man who lives in the home. There were no injuries.

The Georgia Supreme Court is upholding a murder conviction. Rodney Young was found guilty of killing is ex-fiancée’s son in Newton County 13 years ago. The Georgia Chapter of the ACLU is calling for clemency: Young is facing the death penalty. Lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union say he is suffering from an intellectual disability.
