Coronavirus: Police seek California woman who intentionally coughed on baby in yogurt shop

SAN JOSE, Calif. — California authorities are searching for a woman caught on surveillance video coughing on a 1-year-old baby out of spite.

According to police in San Jose, California, the incident occurred June 12 inside a Yogurtland location.

Investigators told KRON the woman being sought became upset that the infant’s mother was not following social distancing guidelines and intentionally coughed on the baby in a stroller.

The act is considered assault and a felony crime during the COVID-19 pandemic, KTVU reported.

The woman being sought is clearly visible on the surveillance video pulling down her white face mask and coughing several times on the baby, while the mother races to pull down the stroller’s hood.

The suspect is described as a white female in her sixties with a medium build, wearing a gray bandanna, glasses, a long-sleeve shirt with gray vertical lines, white dress pants and patterned tennis shoes, KRON reported.

She faces up to six months in jail if convicted.
