Yves Duboc, of Maine, was arraigned Wednesday in Newburyport District Court on charges of driving without a license and marijuana possession over 1 pound, WFXT reported.

Trooper Michael Provost, who was assigned as a court officer, noticed that the defendant from the case got into the driver’s seat of a Toyota SUV after court and drove away, investigators said in a news release. Provost knew Duboc’s license was still suspended and that he was not supposed to be driving.

Provost said that after conducting a traffic stop and arresting Duboc, he did an inventory of the SUV. Provost said that inside the car were zip-close baggies, a bong, two large vacuum-sealed bags and two duffel bags filled with marijuana and five large jars of THC extract. In their release, troopers noted the total amount of marijuana in the car totaled more than 70 pounds.

“He was one court appearance short of a hat trick,” troopers noted in the news release. “But two in the same court on the same day is still pretty unique.”

Duboc now faces additional charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and trafficking in marijuana, WFXT reported.
