Lehi Police said Daniel Mark Wright, 47, plucked the doughnut and left the 7-Eleven in a white Ford truck, KUTV reported.

Investigators tracked the truck to a nearby motel parking lot and made contact with Wright.

“A female was also inside of the bedroom and was identified as Christian Olson,” investigators said. “While the door was open, I observed the green Salt Lake County Sheriff’s jacket hanging in the entry way closet.”

Investigators said Wright told them he was at the 7-Eleven, but refused to answer other questions. Police also determined the truck was stolen.

Wright was arrested and charged with impersonation of an officer, receiving or transfer of a stolen vehicle and theft, KUTV reported. Olson was arrested and charged with receiving or transfer of a stolen vehicle.

Investigators connected the pair to Adalberto Ozeta, who was arrested after a 60-mile pursuit. The group is alleged to be involved in “extensive criminal activity.” Federal authorities are also investigating the three for racketeering, KUTV reported.
