Georgia basketball freshman Anthony Edwards hit a 3-pointer in the final second to lift the Bulldogs to an 80-77 win over Chaminade.
Edwards scored a team-high 24 points to go with his 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational consolation bracket game on Wednesday night at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Rayshaun Hammonds posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-2) against the Division ll Silver Swords (2-3).
Chaminade appeared to be on the verge of forcing overtime when senior Andre Arissol (24 points) drained a 3-pointer from the corner with 9 seconds left.
Georgia inbounded to Edwards, who brought the ball up court and dribbled down the clock, pulling the trigger on the game-winning shot from the wing.
The Bulldogs had missed their previous seven shots from the floor.
Georgia held a slim 38-37 lead at the half despite outrebounding Chaminade 27-10 through the first 20 minutes.
The Silverswords were able to keep it close with hot shooing, making 7 of 11 shots beyond the 3-point arc. Arissol scored 14 points through the first 20 minutes including a 3-pointer just before the buzzer.
Edwards, meanwhile, had 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists at intermission.
Georgia returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against North Carolina Central at Stegeman Coliseum.
That home game will preceded a 10-day break, as the team will have final exams before playing its next game at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Arizona State.
