Carlton Madden Jr. just committed to play linebacker for the University of Georgia.
The recruiting world will quickly try to slot him into several neat categories:
- 3-star recruit ranked as the No. 36 EDGE and No. 781 overall recruit (247Sports Composite)
- 17th member of the UGA class that still keeps the class at No. 4 nationally for 2022
- 10th in-state homegrown Bulldog and the eight recruit for a dominating Georgia defensive unit
- Former Colorado commitment
Those will all be right, but they are not the right thing to share here. Madden was a young man who grew up with Georgia as his dream school.
Flashback to a year ago. Madden wasn’t the type of recruit that Georgia signs annually among the nation’s top 5 recruiting classes in September of 2020. He only played in one game of junior varsity football last fall. That was due to his transfer and eligibility status per Georgia High School Association rules.
