ATHENS — Georgia football has several rivals, and since Kirby Smart took over, Alabama has emerged as the most serious threat to derail championship goals.
Still, teams like Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and Georgia Tech maintain their place as rivals to the Bulldogs.
The Gators fans, in particular, have been more active on social media toward Georgia fans, seemingly sparked by comments from Florida coach Dan Mullen.
Mullen has, on more than one occasion, made comments that some might consider as trolling.
Two notable examples came after Justin Fields transferred to Ohio State, and another was a Florida spring game attendance number that many believed held not-to-coincidental numbers.
Florida’s reported spring game attendance: 39,476
39 – years since Georgia’s last national title
476 – games Georgia has played since its last national title

Kirby Smart has not made any sort of flippant responses, and in fact during the season was quite complimentary of Mullen and the Gators.
“The (Florida) turnaround hasn’t come as a shock to me because Dan and his staff do a great job,” Smart said in the days leading up to Georgia’s 36-17 win over the Gators — which came on the heels of a 42-7 win over the Gators in 2017.
But at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge earlier this week, the UGA head coach and former All-SEC safety did have a little harmless fun.

Smart played with former Georgia coach David Dukes and raised $90,000 with a second-place finish in the closed celebrity event.
Smart revealed the two most meaningful wins at Georgia for him as well as disclosing the road trip that’s at the top of his bucket list.
Alas, Smart didn’t leave the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge without being on the other end of some playful teasing.
Smart was among the coaches set up for a prank, as organizers distracted the coaches with a group photo while a device was planted in the cup.
