ATLANTA Georgia middle linebacker Monty Rice never really got to deal with option attack Georgia Tech once ran, as he was out at this point last season with a broken foot.
But Rice is ready for the offense the Yellow Jackets will bring on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and he aims to make sure the Bulldogs' defense is ready, too.
"They have a lot of guys over there that take it personal when they play Georgia," Rice said. "It's their last game of the season, and they want to go out with a bang."
The No. 4-ranked Bulldogs (10-1) want to preserve their College Football Playoff hopes and gather momentum entering into the week of SEC Championship Game preparation.
Nothing less than an impressive win over the Yellow Jackets (3-8) will accomplish those things.
Georgia is not taking the game for granted, as offensive tackle Andrew Thomas explained.
"It's still a rivalry," Thomas said. "I remember back in 2016, I wasn't a part of the team, but I was at the game when they beat us here at home.
"It stuck with a lot of guys here, so we'll play our best. I remember them tearing up the field and having hedges in their mouths."
The Georgia coaches made sure to remind the players this week with pictures of the Georgia Tech players celebrating their win over Kirby Smart in his first year as head coach in 2016.
The Bulldogs, however, have not lost to Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium since 1999, a streak of nine consecutive road wins in the series.
