INDIANAPOLIS — Georgia football players were making news on Day 2 of NFL combine testing, with four players taking the podium and two on their second stage of the evaluation event.
Bulldogs receiver Riley Ridley made it clear he was excited about talking with the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night and maybe playing alongside his bother, a thought that likely makes other NFL franchises shudder.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Better and AJC-DawgNation Georgia beat writer Mike Griffith broke down Ridley’s comments and where he stands with Atlanta.
There were plenty of results on Friday, too, and not all of them were good.
Tailback Elijah Holyfield wasn’t able to quiet the questions about his straight-line speed, as his 40-yard dash was timed at 4.76 seconds according to NFL.com. Holyfield will surely re-test in the 40 at UGA pro day on March 20.
Holyfield’s 29.5-inch vertical jump was less than inspiring, but his 26 repetitions of 225 pounds on the bench press on Thursday impressed, and he had an acceptable 118-inch broad jump.
Center Lamont Gaillard skipped the bench press and 40-yard dash, electing to do those tests at pro day, and 5-foot-11, 184-pound receiver Terry Godwin also skipped the bench press on Friday.
Receivers Mecole Hardman and Ridley did the bench on Friday. The 5-10, 187-pound Hardman pumped out 17 reps, and Ridley did 13.
