DOT: work to replace Lake Lanier bridges is underway

Work is underway in Hall County, where the Georgia DOT says contractors are taking down the last of the original bridges that span Lake Lanier, bridges that were built when the lake was created in the 1950s. Two bridges on US Highway 129 will be replaced. Work started last year on replacing Boling Bridge over the Chestatee River on Georgia Highway 53 at the Hall-Forsyth County line. Bridge replacement costs will top out north of $100 million. Work is expected to be completed by the spring of 2020.
