Athens-Clarke County Police release the name of a homicide victim: Police say 25 year-old Nigel Turner was gunned down on Huntington Road in Athens. A second shooting victim was hospitalized with what are said to have been non-life threatening injuries. An Athens-Clarke County Police investigation into what appears to have been a gang-related shooting is ongoing.

On April 17th, 2024, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Huntington Road. Responding officers found the victim, Nigel Zachariah Turner, 25, Athens, GA, deceased at this location from a gunshot wound. A second gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
