ATHENS, Ga. --- The Bulldog bats got off to a hot start, as the offense guided the No. 22 Georgia softball team (30-15) to an 11-1 win in five innings against Georgia State (28-17) on Wednesday evening.

Georgia totaled 14 hits on the night with five Bulldogs notching two hits apiece. Alyssa DiCarlo collected four RBI on her two hits, including a three-run home run to bring in the game-ending runs. Along with DiCarlo, Cortni Emanuel and Alysen Febrey each scored twice in the contest.

A two-out home run from GSU in the opening inning was quickly erased, as a six-run first for Georgia put the Bulldogs ahead for good. Georgia capitalized on eight hits and two errors in the frame.

Amanda Ablan (1-1) earned the first win of her collegiate career, going the first three innings with two hits, including a solo home run for GSU’s only score. The Georgia native walked three while striking out five. Kylie Bass closed it out, going two scoreless frames with two hits and a strikeout.

Two more came in the second after Lacey Sumerlin roped a double to left center. After Febrey walked, a hit and error in Brea Dickey’s at-bat let Sumerlin score before an RBI single from Jordan Doggett made it an 8-1 ballgame.

DiCarlo closed out the contest in the fifth, as Ciara Bryan reached on a single to right before C. Emanuel got on via an error, setting up the game’s final runs with DiCarlo’s 11th home run of the season.

Georgia travels to No. 4 Texas A&M this weekend, taking on the Aggies starting Friday. The opening and closing game will be on SEC Network+/WatchESPN while Saturday’s contest will be featured on ESPN2.
