The Clarke County School Board meets this afternoon: there is a 4:30 public hearing on the Clarke County School District budget, and a 5:30 called meeting to talk about plans for the West Broad Street School property. Both meetings take place at Clarke County School District offices on Prince Avenue in Athens.
Another Athens-Clarke County Commission budget review session is on tap for today, underway at 5:30 at the Government Building on Dougherty Street.
Both the Clarke County School Board and the Athens-Clarke County Commission are looking to roll back property tax rates. The School Board is looking at a decrease of 1.2 mills, while the Commission is considering a half-mill rollback.
