A look back at body-shaming Chadwick Boseman faced before his passing

Chadwick Boseman, known for multiple iconic roles including the lead in Marvel’s “Black Panther,” died August 28, after four years of silently battling colon cancer.

“During that time, Boseman was seen and pictured looking much smaller in bulk than his character in the global-hit movie,” Insider’s Gabby Landsverk writes. "As is often the case, one picture sparked a million comments, and a discource that took on a momentum of its own.

“Many took that speculation to the comment section of Boseman’s own social media posts.”

While some fans expressed concern, Landsverk adds that others “mocked and shamed the actor, implying that he must be using drugs."
