The Thanksgiving holiday makes for changes in schedules of services provided by the Athens-Clarke County government.
From the Athens-Clarke Co government website…
- The Adoption Center will be closed Thurs., Nov. 25 and Fri., Nov. 26, resuming regular hours on Sat., Nov. 27 for fosters, adoptions, and rescues by appointment and availability.
- Animal Services is offering the Couch Crashers program for weekend fostering of pets from the Adoption Center for the Thanksgiving weekend from Nov. 23/24 - Nov. 29/30. For details, visit www.accgov.com/fosterapet.
- Animal Services officers will not be available for non-emergency calls on Thurs., Nov. 25. Non-emergency service calls will resume on Mon., Nov. 29.
- Emergency services – such as an animal bite, a seriously sick or injured animal, or an animal trapped inside a living space of a home - will be provided throughout the holiday by calling 911.

Leisure Services
- All facilities will close on Thurs., Nov. 25 and Fri., Nov. 26 and reopen on Sat., Nov. 27 under regular hours of operation.
- Parks are closed on Thurs., Nov. 25. They will be open on Fri., Nov. 26 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM, but buildings will remain closed.
Solid Waste
- Residential and commercial (outside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling collected by the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will not be collected on Thurs., Nov. 25. Garbage and recycling will be collected on the following schedule:
- Regular Wednesday collections will be collected on Wed., Nov. 24.
- Regular Thursday and Friday collections will be collected on Fri., Nov. 26.
- Residential and commercial (inside the Downtown district) garbage and recycling service will be collected as regularly scheduled.
- Leaf & Limb will collect debris in Area B the week of Nov. 22-26, but no collection will take place on Thurs., Nov. 25.
- The landfill will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 25 and Fri., Nov. 26, resuming regular hours on Sat., Nov. 27.
- The CHaRM is open on Wed., Nov. 24 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Normally open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, it will be closed on Sat., Nov. 27, resuming regular hours on Tue., Nov. 30.
- Solid Waste offices will be closed Thurs., Nov. 25 and Fri., Nov. 26, resuming regular hours on Mon., Nov. 29.
- The Materials Recycling Facility will be closed Thurs., Nov. 25, resuming regular hours on Fri., Nov. 26.

Transit
- Athens Transit will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 25.
- Routes 12 & 14 service will be reduced to hourly from Mon. Nov. 22 to Wed., Nov. 24.
- Weekend level service with fixed-route evenings will be provided on Fri., Nov. 26.
- Saturday and Sunday standard weekend service with on-demand evenings resumes on Sat., Nov. 27.

Other Offices
