Athens-Clarke County Commissioners passed a budget last night, a 7-3 Commission vote on a $271 million spending plan that will, among other things, pay for free bus rides on the Athens Transit System.

Elbert County Commissioners, meeting this week in Elberton, voted to impose an 11pm til 6am curfew on the Georgia Guidestones, with fines of up to one thousand dollars for violators. The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office asked for the curfew in an effort to reduce vandalism at the tourist destination off Highway 77.
Oconee County Commissioners look for volunteers to serve on the Oconee County Planning Commission and on the Recreation Advisory committee. Deadline to apply is August 10.
The Gainesville City Council met Tuesday and gave final approval to the latest Gainesville City budget. The Council vote was unanimous.
