Accused child molester acquitted, man charged with assaulting brother

After an eight-day trial in Hartwell, there are not guilty verdicts in the case of a former elementary school teacher who had been charged with child molestation. 29 year-old Brandon Cannon, who taught second grade at South Hart Elementary School, was arrested in December of 2017. He was indicted in February of last year. The jury came back with an acquittal after just two hours of deliberations. 

There are assault charges for a man in Hall County, accused of attacking his own brother: 49 year-old Stanley Ferguson of Gainesville was booked into the Hall County jail after allegedly beating his 41 year-old brother and trying to run over him with a car. 

The Hall County city of Oakwood has a new police chief: Tim Hatch has taken his oath of office. Hatch replaces Randall Moon, who retired as Oakwood's top cop earlier this month. 

A Forsyth County man accused of running away from the scene of a car crash is arrested in Hall County: 31 year-old Quin Charles faces charges stemming from the accident; he's also looking at counts of drug possession and illegal weapon possession. 

The GBI says a deadly shooting in Lumpkin County was the end result of a domestic dispute: investigators in the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office say 43 year-old Jason Burnette was the shooting victim; there is no word yet on a shooting suspect.
