Area briefs: Atlanta Mayor speaks at Terry forum, University Union hosts Spring Fling

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is a featured speaker at today’s Terry Third Thursday session in Atlanta, a forum organized by the University of Georgia and its Terry College of Business.

Today is Spring Fling day at UGA: activities are underway at 6 o’clock this evening on Myers Quad, sponsored by the University of Georgia’s University Union.

The University of Georgia remains an exception to a policy extended this week by the state Board of Regents. UGA, Georgia Tech, and Georgia College and State University will still require SAT or ACT test results with admission applications; other schools in the University System of Georgia will not.

Banks County Democrats are meeting this evening, 6 o’clock at City Hall in Homer.

There is now an April 29 trial date in the case of Justin Johnson, the Atlanta man arrested and charged after a high-speed police pursuit on I-85 in Franklin County. The 26 year-old Johnson was chased and arrested in what turned out to be a stolen car. It happened in 2019. He’ll be tried in Franklin County Superior Court.
