Armed robbery suspects sought, shooting suspect released

Athens-Clarke County Police are searching for suspects in two armed robberies, both on Athens' east side: Police say the same two suspects are believed responsible for holdups at a Golden Pantry on Barnett Shoals Road and at the Choo Choo restaurant on Gaines School Road. Cash was stolen in both cases; there were no injuries reported. There is a $1,000 reward for information that leads to arrests and convictions.

Police in Elberton say charges have been dismissed against a second suspect in a shooting that happened on New Years Day: 35 year-old Clarence Heard has been released from the Elbert County jail, where had joined 31year-old Cornelius Holland. Holland is still charged in the January 1 shooting that sent a man from Hartwell to a hospital in Greenville South Carolina.

One person is dead, four others injured in a single-vehicle crash in Gwinnett County: a car driven by a woman from Monroe wrecked in Lawrenceville. A passenger, identified this morning as Candace Tate, was killed; she was 27 years old. Among the four people injured were two children. Gwinnett County Police say their investigation is ongoing.
