We have this morning the name of the pedestrian who was struck and killed in a Wednesday evening accident on Cleveland Road in Bogart: Richard Hatcher was 44 years old, from Bogart. Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating the accident that led his death, the 11th automobile-related fatality this year in Athens.

On December 14, 2022, at approximately 6:25PM, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to the area of Cleveland Road and Hanover Drive for a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Initial investigation indicates that a pedestrian was walking north in the northbound lane of Cleveland Road. A 2013 Toyota Sequoia was traveling north in the northbound lane of Cleveland Road and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 44-year-old male of Bogart, GA, was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
