Boil Water Advisory for Watkinsville

A boil water advisory is in place for parts of Watkinsville: workers on the Harden Hill sidewalk project struck a water main Tuesday afternoon.

From the Oconee Co government website…

During construction of the Harden Hill sidewalk project in the City of Watkinsville, contractors struck a water main at approximately 2:45 p.m. As a result, water service has been interrupted for some residents of Harden Hill Rd and surrounding area.

As a safeguard to protect public health, all citizens who have experienced a water outage and/or low water pressure in or near the affected areas are advised to boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.

The Water Resources Department will complete this water repair as quickly and efficiently as possible. Citizens should continue to boil their water until they are notified by Oconee County Water Resources Department that this section of Harden Hill Road and the surrounding area have been restored to full operation and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.
