Hall County Congressman Doug Collins takes part in a groundbreaking this morning in Hart County: he will be joined by Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson and others in a ceremony set for 10 o’clock, marking the ceremonial start of work on the Hartwell Lakeside Resort.

This groundbreaking comes after Collins worked cooperatively with the City of Hartwell (the City) and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to reopen Hart State Park by helping negotiate a lease with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). After years of negotiations, the City and the Corps finally reached an agreement in February 2020. The campground opened under new management in April 2020. Media are welcome to attend.
