The first of three public forums on plans for a property tax increase is set for 5:30 this afternoon at City Hall, and the public will be allowed inside the building, with social distancing guidelines still in place. Athens-Clarke County Commissioners are looking at a budget blueprint that will roll back the County millage rate, but property owners will still, in most cases, pay higher taxes because of increases in assessed values. Two other hearings will be held next month.
