DA hopeful holds petition drives in Clarke, Oconee counties

Athens attorney Kalki Yalamanchili, waging an independent campaign to unseat Western Circuit District Attorney Deborah Gonzalez, is gathering signatures on the petitions he will need to earn a spot on the November election ballot.

Yalamanchili and his supporters will fan out across seven locations starting this afternoon.

They will looking for signatures from registered voters in events that will take place at the Library on Baxter Street in Athens, the Country Inn and Suites on Old Epps Bridge Road, the Athens Sports Arena on Commerce Boulevard in Bogart, and in the Community Room at Oconee Veterans Park on Hog Mountain Road.

They will also be at the North High Shoals Community Center in Bishop, the Farmington Community Center, and the Bogart Agricultural Historical Museum from 5 o’clock this afternoon through 8 o’clock tonight.
