The National Weather Service has extended the flash flood watch that covers Athens and most of northeast Georgia through 8 o’clock tomorrow morning. There is more rain and the chance of more thunderstorms in today’s area forecast. Tornado warning sirens sounded last night in Athens and across northeast Georgia but no damage was reported. There are reports of storm damage in Walton County, with at least five homes in Social Circle damaged or destroyed. There are no reports of any storm-related injuries.
