Puppy rescued with help from Elbert Animal Control

Elbert County Emergency Services is reporting the dramatic rescue of a dog that fell into a well.

On Tuesday October 12, 2021 Elbert County E911 received a call that a puppy had fell approximately 30 feet into a well off of Five Forks Rd. Elbert County Sheriffs Office along with Elbert Animal Control were dispatched. Upon their assessment it was determined that more equipment would be needed to rescue the pup. They had attempted to lower a net for the puppy to get into but that was unsuccessful.

Great Job to all involved!

Chuck Almond along with Beth Seymour and Nelson Vickery of Elbert County Fire Department responded with equipment needed to lower someone into the well for the rescue. Anthony Heard went into the well along with assistance of Jareece Norman and Shane Allen of the sheriffs office. At 15:00 the puppy was rescued and did not suffer any injuries.
