City Hall says the parking deck at College and Washington in downtown Athens will be closed at least til this afternoon: engineers worked through the day Tuesday to determine if there was any structural damage to the deck caused by a mid-morning car fire; they say now there wasn’t.
Damaged cars will have to removed, and the parking deck’s sprinkler system will have to be repaired. There were no injuries in the fire. An Athens-Clarke County Fire Department investigation is ongoing.
