First week of early voting in Athens coming to a close

The first full week of early voting in Athens and around the state is coming to a close today, with record turnouts being recorded everywhere.

There will be no Saturday voting in Athens this weekend. Voters can also cast advanced ballots at the Elections Office on Washington Street until 5pm tonight. Next week those hours will extend to 7pm.

Oconee County voters can cast early ballots at the Oconee County Civic Center, which will be open until 7pm tonight, but no Saturday voting this weekend.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger says it’s up to local counties to decide whether or not they need more polling locations.
