ATLANTA — Georgia county election offices are getting a new voter registration system. The state said it is more secure than the one currently in use.
Channel 2′s Richard Elliot attended a news conference Wednesday where the secretary of state’s office announced the new system.

He was joined with county election officials from around Georgia to introduce what he called the Georgia Registered Voter Information System, also known as Jarvis.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger stressed the current system called ElectioNet is safe and secure. But he said Georgia needed a new one to meet the threat challenges of the future.

The system is supposed to help counties maintain their voter databases and Raffensperger said it will operate on the same secure server that the Department of Defense uses.
“This new system is more advanced, more secure and more user friendly and will give our elections directors and my office new tools to better manage our election efforts,” Raffensperger said.
While critics continue to make false accusations of massive voter fraud, Raffensperger stressed again that Georgia elections are secure.
The current system remains secure but is nine years old and that’s why they’re looking for make the change before the 2022 elections.
