ATLANTA — The Georgia Senate has passed a bill banning the use of cellphones during the school day at high schools.
The bill previously passed the Georgia House earlier in the session and now heads to the governor’s desk.
Lawmakers say the measure is intended to help educators keep students focused.
Under the bill, cellphones would be banned from the morning bell until the dismissal bell, including during class transitions.
