Hall Co man arrested on child sex charges

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the arrest of a man from Flowery Branch: 57 year-old Steven Cerny is facing child molestation allegations. Investigators say the child sexual battery counts stem from events that allegedly took place last year. Cerny was released from the Hall County jail after posting a $22,000 bond.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently arrested a Flowery Branch man in the culmination of a child molestation investigation that began last year. Steven Edward Cerny, 57, was taken into custody on Friday evening, Jan. 8, at Hall County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters. He’s charged with two counts of sexual battery and one count of child molestation.

The incident was first reported to the Sheriff’s Office by a family member of the victim after the victim disclosed it on the day of the incident. Cerny was booked in at the Hall County Jail following his arrest. He was released on $22,600 bond on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9.

According to the preliminary investigation, Cerny, committed the crimes against a female child at his residence on the afternoon of Nov. 1, 2020. Cerny knew the victim, who lives in another Georgia county, prior to the abuse.

The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
