There is more traffic talk today in Athens: another meeting of the Prince Avenue Corridor Improvements User Group is set for 3 o’clock this afternoon. The committee is looking at transportation sales tax-funded enhancements to the busy Athens thoroughfare.
There is a morning meeting of the Upper Oconee Basin Water Authority, a 9:30 session at Authority offices on Research Drive in Athens. The Authority is comprised of members from Barrow, Jackson, Oconee, and Athens-Clarke counties.
Oconee County Commissioners, who held a Tuesday night town hall at the Oconee County Civic Center, have set next Wednesday—one week from today—as the date for an open house information session on proposed updates to the Oconee County comprehensive plan. It will take place from 3 til 7 March 29 in the conference room at Oconee Veterans Park.
Officials at the courthouse in Monroe say Walton County is facing what is being called a critical shortage of lawyers in the County’s Public Defenders office. Walton County Commissioners are looking for solutions.
The City Council in Commerce says there will be more discussions before finalizing a plan to have the city’s recreation department folded into the rec department operated by Jackson County. The change was proposed earlier this year.
